I’m Stacy, the owner of The Translation Factory, or Käännöstehdas in Finnish. I’m 25 years old and originally from England. I’ve lived in Finland for almost 6 years now. I first became interested in the Finnish language in 2004 and moved to Helsinki in 2006 to study Finnish at the University of Helsinki. I studied English philology, translation and Northern Sámi as my minors and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2009. I wrote my thesis and graduated with a Master’s degree in 2010.

Before Käännöstehdas, I translated as a freelancer for three years, translating and proofreding texts dealing with tourism, trade and transport. I also translated a textbook and a book aimed at tourists. I translate from Finnish to my mother tongue (British) English, and aim to become an authorised translator in the near future, specialising in texts from the medicinal and health care industry. I am a member of the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (SKTL) and Translation Industry Professionals KAJ.

I currently live in Kuopio with my fiancé and Seiskari dog Tuike. In my free time I enjoy studying languages and linguistics, reading about cosmology and knitting odd-looking socks.
